Mako’s Founder and President is Brian Fowler, a 25 year veteran of the Executive Search and Staffing industries.
Over the course of his career, Brian has successfully led engagements for Fortune 50 companies, single-person startups and everything in between, in industries as varied as Manufacturing, Financial Services, Tech, Healthcare and Private Equity. Throughout this time he has successfully filled searches for CEOs and Presidents, led campaigns to completely staff entire companies from the ground up, and filled more “impossible to find” positions than he can recall.
In addition to leading traditional search campaigns, Brian has also been engaged by industry leaders to guide them successfully on employee benefits and compensation strategies, retention planning, employer branding and everything in between.
All of this led to Brian launching Mako.

And so, Mako HR Group was formed to help companies attract, hire and retain top talent.

The “Mako” name was carefully chosen.
First, the mako shark is a focused, fast and efficient animal. The Mako team aims to achieve each of these traits in every one of its engagements.
Second, one of our Founder’s favorite phrases for those committed to winning the best talent is “More shark, less dolphin.” As he says, “Focused and fast always wins the day over a more conservative approach. If you are conservative over a long enough time span – you will lose the best people to your rivals.”
